Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

FAQ.
Q: What is the FAQ ??? :)
A: The FAQ stands for Frquently asked questions, where the most asked questions are answered before you ask it... hmm :))

Q: No or Hardly any maps appear when I try to start a game!!!
A: MOVE all the .bsp files from your RockCrowbar\Maps folder to Valve\maps !!!

Q: Do the bots do the big fart projector jumps yet?
A: They can do them when they want and they will now do them at the specific waypoints. They will do them at specific waypoints too.

Q: Can the bots play teamplay?
A: Yes!

Q: Can the bots play Capture the flag (CTF) ?
A: Nope, not at the moment, they can but they wont know where to get the flag etc yet. I've noticed a few bugs, for example even when a client (player) touches the correct flag, the game exits to the console with some error, I haven't looked into this yet since I don't know if its a bot problem.

Q: The bots are all walking into walls and stuff!!!
A: Make sure there are waypoints in the level, It helps to make your own if there are none available! Read the rcbot_waypoint.txt for more info.

Q: Bots still shoot me when I'm a transformation in observer mode!!!
A: Yes, I am going to add a setting for this, something like b_dontshoottcltransforms or something That commmand WON'T work in this release! I might add it! Since I like it better atm so I can run to a transformation without being shot and then try to avoid fire as a transformation.

Q: Even with waypoints in the map, they keep running around anywhere!
A: Type "waypoint save" and then "waypoint load" in the console to update the waypoints There may be too many paths to one waypoint and the next which might make the bot go back, the bot only goes to waypoiints it hasn't been to for the last five times and willl only go to ones that are at a 135 degrees angle. The maximum amount of paths that the bots looks for is eight. So if you have any more than eight paths to a waypoint then remove some. Look at the waypoint readme for more info.

Q: I've done that but they're still wandering about the place!?
A: If a map has no flag or transformation waypoints, they will not goto any specific points. Otherwise they will just wander around each waypoint they find that has a path between them.

Q: How do the flag and flag goal waypoints work??
A: The flag points are points that a bot will goto first, once its been there, it will look for a flag goal waypoint, If there are no flag goal waypoints, the bot will just wander around from there.

Q: I've got flag waypoints and stuff in my map now but some of the bots are still wandering around like normal!
A: This is because a bot chooses its goal (the place where it wants to go) when it respawns, most of the time it will goto a Flag/Flag Goal point, other wise, a Transformation point, else it will just wander around like normal until it is killed! I've done this so All bots don't start going about to the same places and I'd like the bots to goto transformation points to so that they wont just goto them at random.

Q: Any more info on these flag points?
A: Heres is the text I took from the rcbot_waypoint.txt.... (pls read it if you want to do some waypoints)

Selecting item 1 (flag location) will mark this waypoint as the location
where the bot will go first, when the bot reaches that flag point, it will goto a flag goal point. You can place many flag points throughout a map, just don't put them close together!

Selecting item 2 (flag goal location) will marks this waypoint where the bot will go once it reaches a flag location point.

The best way to use these is to put the flag goal locations in the middle of the map and flag locations at the start/end of a map or places that will have many paths to get to or even good weapons and stuff!
