I've finally found the time to add a message board as an open forum to discuss all Parabot related matters. If you'd like to share your experiences or opinions with other Parabot users or if you've got any questions, comments, critics etc. concerning the bot have a look at Nuclear Box!

I've released a patch to make Parabot compatible with the latest HL version 1108. This update (version 0.71) is required to play HL deathmatch with
Parabot, otherwise the game will crash in all maps containing the rocketlauncher.
The (short) feature list:
- fixed crashes in latest HL version 1108
- fixed a bug in the navigation routines: bots learn correctly to use the longjump module and to avoid dangerous paths again
- added two new chatfiles (Romanian and Swedish)
Note: You *MUST* have HL1108 installed to use this patch. Download!

Before you start thinking that this website is dead I better give you some information on what I'm currently working on:
I have been designing a new branch of the navigation system that should lead the bot in combat situations in future versions.
So what are the new features the bot will (hopefully) be able to perform? The new nav will provide a lookup-table for visibility all over
the map which will be used for two major improvements: effective search for cover to flee to that location and search for attack spots
when enemies get out of sight (no simple go-to-last-seen-position anymore).
Furthermore I hope to be able to use the data for anticipating enemy movement and laying ambushs. A kind of "danger zones" could also easily
be implemented. As in older versions the necessary data is collected in-game, i.e. Parabot stays an auto-waypointed bot.
Since the code extensions and changes are rather complex it will still take some time to finish a new version. The only thing I can show you now is this
screen-shot where the new waypoint-grid is visualized together with some more debug information (click to enlarge):

CSBots.net published the first review of the Parabot in DMC.
They seemed to be very impressed by the chat system ;-) and rated Parabot as the best bot for DMC in their conclusion...
Have a look at the review here
or translate the page with Babelfish if you don't understand French.

The day has come: Parabot version 0.7 is ready for release (and it's a pretty good one IMHO)!
There are too many new features to list them all, but among them are:
- full support for Deathmatch Classic (DMC)
- improved pathfinding system (more doors and platforms)
- better roaming navigation in unknown maps
- bots hunt enemies they can track by hearing
- fully configurable chat-and-response system
- new playmodes: RestrictedWeapons and PeaceMode
- more flexible installation
- lots of bug-fixes
Read more about the new release in the Features section or directly download your copy here.

A long time since the last update, but I've got good news: Both navigation subsystems (Roaming and Path-Following) have been extended to handle the new challenges and
perform really well. The bots can even reach the grenadelauncher in dmc_dm2 now, a task that requires the player to:
- press a button
- run down a hallway to the (now opened) door
- use the teleporter behind it
- wait for a moving platform
- get on the platform and wait until it has reached the other side
- get off the platform and pick up the grenadelauncher
And before I forget it: The chat-system rocks! The chatfile gets currently translated in four other languages (which might take a while -
it is a HUGE file!) and I want to track down some more bugs. No release yet, but the day is getting closer...
