This Quake-C section of the page is mostly for Quake-C newbies and contains some Quake-C related links, tools, files, etc.

First of all, to start programming in Quake-C, you need its source files. These are from Quake version 1.06, but they are fully compatible with all later versions (1.08, 1.09). And Frogbot's source files, of course. These are from version 0.12c.

What you need next is a compiler, for sure. Frogbot was made using quite complicated coding, so not all of the Quake-C compiles understand that. There is a sollution:

First of all, you'll need this PreQc Compiler v1.04 beta by John Cook. This program converts Frogbot's .qc files to .pqc format files, which are fully with all Quake-C compilers.Read the text files included for more information.

ProQc compiler/decompiler v1.60 by Lee Smith. Really fast! Doesn't support some Quake-C functions. But that's why PreQc is for.

Meqcc compiler version 1.3 by Mr. Elusive. This compiler has a few nice options, like it makes you progs.dat undecompilable, and it reduces progs.dat size. But the best part of it is that you don't need a precompiler to compile complicated .qc files (e.g. Frogbot source)

Of course, if you are new to Quake-C, all of these files won't help you to learn programming mods. To learn Quake-C language better, you must go and read tutorials. You can find them in my 'Tutorials' page.

Now that you have source, compilers and knowledge of Quake-C (hopefully), you can start creating. I believe that this won't be an easy task, but if/when you're finished, contact Robert 'Frog' Field (bot's author) and tell him about your creation. Modifying frogbot includes: original source modifying, adding your created .qc files, adding support for new maps, etc.

That's all for Quake-C so far.
